Nic. Christiansen Group acquires Autohuset Vestergaard in major expansion of the company
The acquisition represents a significant strategic investment, further strengthening Nic. Christiansen Group’s already solid position in the Danish market and supporting the company’s ambitious growth ambitions.
According to CEO of Nic. Christiansen Group Niels Vrist Bertelsen, the acquisition of Autohuset Vestergaard – which brings over 800 skilled employees into the group – comes with great potential.
“We are very pleased to welcome Autohuset Vestergaard to Nic. Christiansen Group. It is a respected, well-renowned, and highly competent dealership chain that aligns well with our company’s values and expertise,” says Niels Vrist Bertelsen.
“Autohuset Vestergaard is a well-run business with strong local roots and a high level of trust among both customers and partners. This acquisition is a landmark moment in Nic. Christiansen Group’s histo-ry and underscores our ongoing strategic execution to expand the business and consolidate our strong position in the Danish market.”
Both family-owned companies
Autohuset Vestergaard is a family-owned business founded in 1983. Over the years, it has built a ro-bust operation with 15 locations across Denmark. The company represents a wide range of automotive brands – including Ford, which is imported by Nic. Christiansen Group. From 2026, Hyundai – also imported by Nic. Christiansen Group – will be sold through Autohuset Vestergaard locations in Funen and Southern Jutland.
The acquisition also means that Nic. Christiansen Group will introduce new brands to its portfolio, in-cluding Volvo, Polestar, Renault, and Dacia, as well as trucks from both Volvo and Renault. In addition, a well-established leasing operation will be included. Autohuset Vestergaard’s activities in the sales and customization of mobility vehicles and institutional minibuses, as well as van conversions and special builds, are also part of the acquisition.
Autohuset Vestergaard’s strong focus on customer service and local presence will remain a priority for Nic. Christiansen Group, according to Niels Vrist Bertelsen:
“We see a strong strategic and value-based alignment with Autohuset Vestergaard. Both companies are rooted in Danish family entrepreneurship and are driven by deep personal commitment from the founding families. We share a common understanding of the importance of stable relationships, integ-rity, and a focus on quality – both in customer experience and workplace culture.”
Hans Vestergaard, founder of Autohuset Vestergaard, also expresses his satisfaction with the agree-ment, which ensures that his life’s work will be carried forward in the same spirit that has guided the company for 42 years.
“Our family believes that now is the right time to find a new owner for Autohuset Vestergaard, and we are very pleased to see the company become part of a strong, family-owned group like Nic. Christian-sen Group. We feel confident that this is a perfect match – both for the company and our many talent-ed employees. With Nic. Christiansen Group, our spirit will live on, and the work will continue at the same high standards,” says Hans Vestergaard.
“We share many of the same values, and we look forward to continuing Autohuset Vestergaard’s jour-ney as part of Nic. Christiansen Group.”
Co-owner Birthe Christiansen – whose father founded Nic. Christiansen Group – along with third gen-eration family members Camilla and Carina Christiansen, also look forward to welcoming Autohuset Vestergaard into the family business.
“Throughout our company’s history, core values like integrity and unity have been fundamental to our development. These same values are deeply embedded in Autohuset Vestergaard, and we are excited to welcome their employees and the company itself into Nic. Christiansen Group,” says Birthe Christi-ansen.
Autohuset Vestergaard will continue to operate under its current name, now under the ownership of Nic. Christiansen Group. In addition to the chain’s existing 15 locations, Terminalen’s stores in Aarhus, Birkerød, Amager, and Taastrup will also become part of Autohuset Vestergaard.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the competition authorities.
